How do I access your ONIX feeds?
What is the OUPANZ ONIX data file?
The OUPANZ ONIX data file is a structured metadata feed based on ONIX (Online Information Exchange), the global standard used by publishers, retailers, and distributors to share book and product information.
We provide ONIX in version 3.0, which enables richer metadata, improved accuracy, and better integration with modern systems.
What’s included?
In addition to core bibliographic details (such as title, author, ISBN, and publication date), the ONIX file includes:
- Rich content – descriptions, blurbs, reviews, and table of contents where available
- Cover images – links to product images for use in websites and catalogues
- Pricing and availability – up-to-date pricing, availability status, and discount codes to support accurate selling prices
- Classification data – subject categories and audience information to improve search, discovery, and merchandising
Available ONIX files and delivery schedule
ONIX data is provided as XML files (ONIX 3.0 format), packaged as ZIP files and delivered via secure HTTPS links.
Two file types are available:
Full file (weekly)
- A complete dataset of all available titles
- Produced once per week (every Sunday)
- Best suited for initial setup or full data refreshes
Incremental (delta) file (daily)
- Contains only records that have been added or updated since the previous day
- Produced daily
- Designed for keeping your system up to date efficiently
Accessing and downloading files
Files are available via direct HTTPS links:
- Download manually by clicking the relevant link
- Or automate retrieval using scripts, scheduled jobs, or data integration tools
After downloading, extract the ZIP file to access the XML ONIX file for processing.

Important considerations
- Files are provided as compressed ZIP archives
- Customers are responsible for extracting and processing the XML files
- Ensure any automated processes align with the file update schedule (daily vs weekly)
