Some student assessments require marking, you can apply marks in two ways.
To start, on the Assessment Report screen, click the pencil icon.
The marking screen offers two modes – Mark by student and Mark by question.
Mark by student
You can mark assessments one student at a time by applying mark to each question in order.
On the left hand side you will see the students that have submitted work to be marked, and any that haven’t submitted yet.
To mark each student work select a name from the left hand column, then work down the marking fields on the right hand side. You can expand any answer by clicking on it to expand the answer. A guide for how many marks each question is worth is provided next to the marking field.
If the assessment is a mix of auto-marked questions and teacher-marked questions, you can select to show only teacher marked questions by clicking the toggle to Show “to be marked” only.
You can also add comments to provide additional feedback to the student on a per question basis.
When all marks have been entered, click “Save marking” in the top right corner.
If all questions for a student have been marked, you can send the completed marks back to your class by clicking the “Send to students” button. There will be a numerical indicator to confirm how many students you are returning your marks to. When marks have been returned the student’s name will move to a new section called “Marking returned”.
Mark by question
You might like to mark answers to a specific question at once. This could be so that you can stay focused on each question until all answers have been marked before moving on to the next, which ensures a more balanced marking experience.
On the marking screen, click on “Mark by question” at the top left of screen.
In the left hand column you will see the progress of your marking, including how many student submissions have been marked and returned to the student, how many still require marking, how many students have not yet submitted the assessment.
In the Question marking section you will see all the questions for the assessment. Clicking on a question will present all the students who have submitted an answer, then you can view the answer for each question by clicking on the student name and expanding the answer field.
Using the Show “to be marked” only switch you will be able to reduce the list of student answers to only show answers that haven’t been marked yet. Additionally, if the assessment is a combination of auto-marked and teacher-marked questions, the auto-marked questions will be hidden from view.
